Chen Chu was in the front line of the democracy movement of Taiwan. Taiwan is today one of the most democratic countries of the world holding regular free general elections and was the first country in Asia recognizing same sex marriage. In every milestone of this development Chen Chu has played an important role and is regarded as one of the most significant political figures in Taiwan. The herstory of Chen Chu was and is an integral part of Taiwan’s democratic process.
