It’s up to us to make changes happen. My name is Hibba, I am a 21 year old student and activist trying to make this world a better place. It’s not an easy thing, but it is possible. I know how it feels to be helpless, I know how it feels to be judged by other people because of circumstances you did not choose.
My parents were persecuted in Pakistan because of their religion, so they had to flee. My mother was pregnant with me, so I was born and raised in a refugees camp in Brandenburg. I have two older brothers and one younger sister. Even though I was a little child during that time, I still have a lot of memories. There were people who helped us. An army of volunteers who were trying to make the best of the situation and who made us (children) feel good. That’s the reason why I want to help people.
Because every single one of us can make a difference. I started organizing demonstrations against deportations in 2017. Since then I am fighting for justice and peace and against racism, sexism and every other kind of discrimination. I was elected into the local parliament where I am trying to change structures and change politics.
You don’t have to be a politician or a billionaire to make a difference. All you have to have is the will and passion to change something.
